Introduction. Modeling contusion injury of the eyeball is relevant, because it can reveal features of the development of inflammation in the loose connective tissue, will analyze the blood-aqueous barrier and ways ofintraocular fluid, and — specific alteration and repair of epithelial ciliary processes associated with connective tissue.

The aim of this study was to investigate the development of patomorphologic shifts in the structures of the choroid in a contusion model of injury of the eyeball in the experiment.

Material and methods. An experimental study was performed on 25 sexually mature rabbits (50 eyes) chinchilla weighing 2.5 — 3.0 kg .In animals, simulated standard direct contusion injury of the eyeball using the "Devices for modeling contusion of the eyeball" (declarative patent Ukraine 72384). Study were performed at 1, 3, 7, 14 days after contusion injury. During the morphometric study evaluated the proportion of damaged cells of the ciliated epithelium, the diameter of blood vessels in the ciliary processes.

Results. Contusion eyes accompanied by a complex of pathological changes in the structures of the choroid. The leading mechanism of alteration, except for physical damage, is ischemia due to acute microcirculatory disorders. The period from the 1st to the 3rd day is critical in terms of increasing ischemic vascular membrane structures, which is based on microcirculatory disorders with symptoms of endothelial dysfunction.

Conclusion. Most vulnerable structures to the action of pathogenic factors injuries were: the iris pigment epithelium, nonpigmentary epithelium of the ciliary processes, and fibroblastlike cells trabecular meshwork.
