PECULIARITIES OF THE CONDITION OF THE VEGETATIVE NERVOUS SYSTEM AND PSYCHOEMOTIONAL STATUS IN PATIENTS WITH HERPETIC KERATITES

There were studied peculiarities of the psychoemotional status and condition of the vegetative nervous system in 60 patients with herpetic keratitis (HK).

The investigation of the vegetative tone has shown that sympathicotonia was marked in 43 persons (71.7%).

Among them in 46.5% the character of HK course was determined as frequently recurrent, in 37.2% of cases — as rarely recurrent. In patients with parasympathotonia the frequently recurrent course of the process in noted in 12.5%, and rare recurrent — in 75% of cases. It is necessary to note that sympathicotonia is more often marked in patients with frequent relapses (p < 0.05). Examination of the patients by a scale of personal and reactive anxiety of Spilberger has revealed a high level of personal anxiety.

The investigations carried out have shown presence of significant differences in activity of VNS in various character of the course of recurrent HK, sympathicotonia prevails in more severe process with frequent relapses. Besides there in noted prevalence of psychoemotional disorders in the examined patients. The data obtained give evidence of necessity to render psychological aid of patients with ophthalmic herpes.
