Pasyechnikova Nataliya, https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5718-8700 a corresponding member of NAMS of Ukraine, DM, Professor, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, one of the most prominent scientists in the field of ophthalmology. Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute, Nataliya Pasyechnikova worked in polyclinic service, Kiev Trauma Center, and as an assistant at the Department of Ophthalmology at Kiev Medical Institute. She was actively involved in the introduction of the intraocular lenses implantation in Ukraine. As the Head of the Laser Department of Kiev Ophthalmic Clinic “Eye Microsurgery Center” she actively developed current trends of retinology (development of new diagnosis and treatment methods for diseases of the retina and choroid of different etiology, development of new laser treatment). As the Director of State Institution «The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of NAMS of Ukraine” continues to develop these areas in a practical and scientific work (fluorescent angiography, optical coherence tomography, transpupillary thermotherapy, photodynamic therapy, diagnostic of fundus pathology using infrared radiation, combined (laser and surgery) treatment of diseases of the retina and choroid). One of the priority areas is developing a bioequivalent of the cornea and searching for new materials for biological corneal coating, also using the latest technology of genetic engineering. Researching methods for high-frequency welding of biological tissues in ophthalmology is also of great importance. First in Ukraine Nataliya Pasyechnikova introduced transpupillary thermotherapy and retinopathy of prematurity. She initiated the emergency aid to children with retinopathy of prematurity in Ukraine. She is the author of 5 monographs, about 250 scientific papers, and 31 patents.
